Sunday 12th February - Saxlingham Thorpe - 6.5m - Ideal for new walkers

Post by rpmay » Mon Feb 06, 2017 10:10 am

Hi,

I will be leading a shorter walk this coming Sunday, so it will be an ideal walk for new walkers to try out walking with Hike Norfolk before hopefully deciding to try some longer walks too. The pace will be steady, so everyone should be able to manage it.

The starting point is the former public house, The Duke’s Head Inn, in Shotesham village, I will post more details on this after the reccy on Wednesdsay.

We will start at 11:00, have a break about half way round for drinks / snacks and expect to finish about 13:30.

Please check back here after Wednesday for any updated information on the walk, once I have completed the reccy.

Having completed the Reccy yesterday, I can give a bit more information on the walk.

Starting point: The Duke's Head Inn is now a plain building with no label, so please refer to the map that I will post next for the exact location. A better landmark is All Saints Church, Shotesham. The postcode for the church is NR15 1YB. Either way there is no car park where we are meeting so please park considerately on the surrounding roads and meet back on the marked map point. If you get lost on the day, you can ring me on 07802 270598.

Timing: With two ruined churches to explore, the reccy took a little longer than expected, so I would allow up to three hours for the walk. We will stop half way round for drinks and snacks!

Route condition: Very muddy in places, so bring boots that are up to the mud.
